Classroom decoration

For the last 4 weeks we have been without Mrs Watson :( . Now that she is back, over the weekend she has decorated the classroom and it looks lovely and bright! On one wall we have our pastel sea life art and our paper quakers. On the other we have our habit universe with our stars and our words from our word studying with Mr Sisam. We have our key competencies up and the place is looking fabulous!!!
Hasn't Mrs Watson done a great job?! :)

In room 18 we have been trying to move up on the basic facts ladder. Whenever anyone completes the basic facts ladder they will get tested by Mr Sisam or Mr Dixon in Assembly. Now there is a new rule for the basic facts ladder, the last step on the basic facts ladder is 60. We have been coming inside at lunch and morning tea to get tested.

Art (foxes)

                                                                           FOXES

On Wednesday afternoon we made foxes for art.  It was a lot of fun when Molly and Jack C showed us how to make them.  First you fold the piece of paper four times.  Then you fold a little piece for the tail.  After that you fold a another piece then you have the body and the ears. After that you push down the head and then you have a fox and then we drew some eyes, nose and whiskers. Hey presto!

Homework Challenge!

For an exciting Homework project we made letter boxes. It was super fun getting to work on the project with my dad. We have only got two letter boxes so far but I'm hoping that we will get many more. The two we have are rugby world cup 2011 and an old fashioned country letterbox.

Poem

This week we were doing a poem called 'Growing'.  It was really interesting.
We first had to practice reading the poem out, then acted it and we performed in front of the class.
This is how it goes.

Wake up little seed
in your warm earth bed
its time you did
some growing instead

Grow a stem
up through the  ground
grow a root
push it down

Reach for the sun
drink in the showers
uncurl your leaves
open your flowers

Now your a plant
Isn't it fun?
rest, little seed
your growing is done.

Quackers!

On Monday Room18 made Quackers with Mr Costello. We learned some origami. It was fun decorating it . Most of the boys made mohawks and the girls eyelashes. There were eyes, spiky teeth, tongues. My one is in the bottom left hand corner with red eyes and light green teeth.

creative writing, creative minds

In Room 18 we have been learning to write letters and advertisements. We have been sending our letters to a person we invented. My character is called Amber /Twilight - half angel, half vampire devil. Jack C and Gussy's creative minds made characters called, Super Mario a stunt devil and Bella a fashion designer. Our characters have been sent letters from the bank, invites to places and sympathy letters, postcards, letters from police and the front cover of a magazine that they subscribe to. For our homework we made them a letterbox. We had a wonderful turn out with 9 letterbox's for our characters that we're decorated really well. they were made by, Jack C, Ashley, Boston, Joy, Johann, Kyle, Max, Aaria, and Molly. Our characters letterboxes are full to the brim !!!!!!
